Peru Adventure & High-Altitude Trekking FAQ
How many days of acclimatization do we need before hiking Rainbow Mountain or Humantay Lagoon?
Because Humantay Lagoon sits at 4,200 meters (13,779 ft) and Rainbow Mountain reaches 5,036 meters (16,522 ft), we strongly recommend spending at least 2 to 3 days acclimatizing in the Sacred Valley and Cusco before attempting either trek.
What safety equipment is included on your high-altitude Andean treks?
All our Andean trekking expeditions are led by wilderness first-aid certified guides carrying emergency supplemental oxygen tanks, pulse oximeters, first-aid kits, and trekking poles, with optional local horses available along the trail.
When is the best season for adventure trekking in the Peruvian Andes?
The Andean dry season from May through October offers the clearest blue skies and firmest trail conditions for Rainbow Mountain, Humantay Lagoon, and the Inca Trail, while coastal adventures in Paracas and Huacachina enjoy sunny desert weather year-round.
