The Glacial Ascent

1. Early Departure & Scenic Drive

Your expedition begins bright and early with a pickup from your hotel in Cusco at 5:00 AM. As dawn breaks, we embark on a fascinating 3-hour drive. The route offers amazing views of the Andean mountains, passing through remote indigenous villages and lush cornfields before arriving at the Soraypampa trailhead.

2. The Salkantay Trail Ascent

Starting at an elevation of 3,800 meters (12,460 feet), we begin our 2-hour uphill hike. As you ascend the rugged path, your guide will point out the various high-altitude flora and fauna unique to this microclimate. We will take strategic breaks, allowing you to catch your breath and capture postcard-perfect shots of the surrounding snow-capped peaks.

3. The Treasure: Humantay Lagoon

At the top, the ultimate treasure awaits. 4. Descent & Return to Cusco

After absorbing the immense beauty and energy of the glacier, we begin our descent back to Soraypampa, which is noticeably quicker and easier than the climb. With our hearts and cameras full, we will board our private van for the 3-hour return journey, dropping you off at your hotel in Cusco in the late afternoon.
